We are a location where our SAs don 't like autoextend ... even DBAs don 't want autoextend.

Subject: Re: RE: LMT ASSM & next extent
is there a practical need to do that? I typically just turn autoextend on for all my files and have code that monitors the bytes in all my segments in a tablespace vs. the size of the datafile and I get an email if its close to filling up or if the datafile extends.
is there a need for a more comprehensive approach?
